A day-in-the-life of an ORCA Local Franchisee.
Sarah Boothman on life as an ORCA Local Internet Marketing Consultant...

“Hello everyone, thought I’d share with you a typically busy day of mine last week, so that you can see just what life is like running your own ORCA Local community website - enjoy!
00 – ‘Business Over Breakfast’ network meeting – An early start, but I don’t mind, as it’s a great opportunity to get out and meet lots of local business owners and exchange ideas.
00 – Out doing drop ins on the High Street - a lot of new businesses have opened up in Skipton recently, so I’m spending a bit of time this morning, going round and introducing them all to ORCA Local. Result; 3 meetings booked for early next week.
30 – Back out in town, this time for a meeting with a potential client, who’s extremely keen to get involved with ORCA Local (I think he felt a bit left out actually!). Set them up with a free business listing and Key Card offer – will follow up again next week.
00 - Back at home – got a list of all the local business clubs, associations and civic organisations from the council, who I’m going write to and introduce them to the ORCA Local scheme and why it’s great news for Skipton.
00 – Had a working lunch, prepared for a meeting with a local gift shop, whom I’m meeting tomorrow morning.
45 – Took a call from James at one of my favourite local restaurants – he wants to pass me on the details of some of his friends’ businesses who want to get involved in with ORCA Local. 15 minutes later and it’s another 2 meetings set up for early next week!
00 – Go to an unveiling of a new art exhibition at Herriot’s Hotel (already part of ORCA Local and very happy!). Another fantastic opportunity to meet local business owners.
00 – Meeting with Sophie’s Handbags- they’re planning a charity event in conjunction with The Castle pub, which I’m helping to organize as it’s a great opportunity to keep ORCA Local in the minds of local people – especially as The Castle is running some very popular ORCA Local Key Card offers.
30 - Popped in to Suzy Q’s to drop off some more Key Cards – they’ve run out again!
45 – Sent a new newsletter for one of my favourite chocolate shops on the High Street, Whitakers Chocolates – over a third of all local Skipton people are registered with ORCA Local, so I’m confident it will result in a lot of enquiries.
30 – Updated the Virtual Office, prepared for a meeting with a prospective client tomorrow and get ready for bowling.
30 - Out bowling now at the local Bowling Alley, didn’t win sadly (in fact I came last!) – never mind though, it’s been a great day, I wonder what tomorrow will bring?"
